History

The community college opened its doors to the community in 1926. It moved to its current home on Money Boulevard in 1940 and has served the residents of Tulare and King counties in Visalia ever since. The college has since then branched out their educational locations to the surrounding towns in Tulare and Hanford to assist more students in their professional advancements.

Admissions and Programs

College of the Sequoias (COS) in Visalia offers over 16 areas of study with a variety of programs students can decide to major. From agriculture to social sciences, the possibilities for higher education are extensive.

Admissions to COS requires you to fill out a free application and include transcripts from your high school or previous colleges. Once accepted, you will need to make payment arrangements. The college provides you with a free application for financial aid and scholarship information if you need assistance with tuition. After that step, you will meet with a counselor, choose your major, and sign up for classes.

Athletics

Known as the home of the Giants, College of the Sequoias offers thirteen different sports for men and women to participate in and compete against other teams in the area. There are several academic requirements for students who wish to compete such as being enrolled full-time (more than twelve hours a semester) and maintaining a GPA of 2.0 or better.

 

With numerous academic programs available, students can choose from several different options to continue their educational journeys.
